Vital Spaces’ Summer Camp programs offer creative, empowering experiences for Black and Bi-racial youth in Santa Fe, providing a space to explore art, music, and self-expression while building confidence and community. The Sista Circle Camp, co-founded by Nicole Morris, centers mentorship and leadership for girls, while our boys’ camp engages young men in healthy masculinities and parallel experiences that center creativity and personal growth. Camp leads and co-leads — Tintawi Kaigziabiher, Faridah Ndiaye, Tallie Segal, Robert Washington, and Isatu Kaigziabiher — have been instrumental in shaping the camps’ dynamic and supportive environment.
At camp, youth dive into hands-on visual arts, music and dance sessions, storytelling, movement, a day on the river rafting, and performance workshops, all designed to spark creativity and self-expression. They collaborate on group projects and gaining skills while forming lasting friendships and mentorship connections. Campers also engage in community-building activities, leadership exercises, and cultural exploration, giving them opportunities to learn about themselves and the world around them in a safe, supportive space.
These programs are made possible through the generous support of New Mexico Women.Org, and in partnership with the Black Men Flower Project. We offer a summer experience where young people can explore, create, and shine!
