Juneteenth Santa Fe
Honoring Freedom and Building Community
Producing Santa Fe’s Juneteenth celebration has been one of the most meaningful projects I’ve had the honor of leading. It’s not just an event—it’s a day of connection, reflection, and joy that brings our community together to honor the legacy of freedom and celebrate the richness of Black culture and resilience. With key partnerships, including the City of Santa Fe and Lensic 360, this celebration has become a cornerstone event that highlights what’s possible when we come together with intention and purpose.
Celebrating Freedom Through Arts and Culture
The event was alive with music, spoken word, dance, and storytelling—all showcasing the incredible talent and creativity of Black artists. From local performers to national talent, the stage was a powerful space for honoring history and celebrating the present. It felt like a family gathering where everyone was welcome to come as they are, share in the energy, and be uplifted by the performances.
Supporting Black Businesses and Entrepreneurs
One of the highlights of Juneteenth was the marketplace, featuring incredible Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs. This space wasn’t just about commerce; it was about building connections, supporting economic empowerment, and creating opportunities for Black creators and business owners to shine. From handmade crafts to delicious food, the marketplace was buzzing with energy and community spirit.
A Welcoming Space for All
Working alongside Lensic 360 allowed us to elevate the event even further, creating an environment that was inclusive, accessible, and vibrant. Whether people came for the family-friendly activities, the powerful performances, or simply to connect with others, there was something for everyone. It was a day filled with love, joy, and unity, reminding us all of the power of community.
Looking Ahead
This celebration is deeply personal for me, and every year, it continues to grow in impact and meaning. Juneteenth in Santa Fe is about more than one day; it’s about building a culture of equity, resilience, and togetherness in our city. I’m incredibly grateful for the partnerships, support, and shared vision that make this event possible and can’t wait to see how it continues to evolve in the years to come.
