N.M. Creative Industries Division Study
From December 2023 to July 2024, I worked with the NM Economic Development Department, Creative Startups and the Poeh Cultural Center to support the creation of a five-year strategy for New Mexico’s newly formed Division of Creative Industries. My role focused on traveling across the state holding public listening sessions and interviews, organizing zoom meetings and seminars to gather more perspectives, and celebrating our creatives with the very first Creative Industries Week. Additionally I helped foster community engagement and supported the development of policies and programs to grow the state's creative economy.
Key responsibilities included:
Community Engagement: Led outreach across various creative sectors statewide, ensuring diverse perspectives were included in the strategy.
Research & Innovation: Research and recommended entrepreneurship and workforce training programs, and contributed examples of effective global, national, and regional methods to support underserved creative communities.
Interviews & Focus Groups: Conducted interviews with creative economy leaders, legislators, and department heads, and hosted focus groups to gather insights from BIPOC creative business leaders.
Content Creation & Reporting: Produced regular reports, contributed to the creation of an asset map of creative resources across New Mexico, and supported marketing efforts for conferences and public communications.
